News
The George B in Division One have unfortunately withdrawn from the league.
As the Geroge played exactly half of their fixtures their results will stand.
If any of the George player's wish to remain in the league they are welcome to join another on the basis they confrim with me 24 hours before playing for the new team.
This season has seen an unusually high mount of games being postponed, therefore the committee reviewed
rule 3.d and have made the following amendment to be applicable from June 1st.
(The wording in this rule is very ambiguous and needed amending regardless)
- Any team cancelling a game will be subject to minus 4 points. The game can will be re-arranged.
- If a team cancels on the day of the game then that team will be subject to minus 8 points and the game awarded 15-0 to the opposing team. POS stats will be added to opposing team.
Only games that have been postponed after June 1st will be subject to the above.
Morning All,
Thank you to those that attended the Presentation Evening yesterday, it was very well attended - thank you for your continued support towards the league.
Fixtures are now live for Season 76, same teams as last season so the same format of 2 divisions.
The committee held a meeting after presentation and below is a summary of the outcomes
League Rules Vote
International Rules - 14
World Rules - 7
Resulting in the league switching over to International Rules with immediate effect.
The committee fully understand that this will result in a learning curve for many and will try and support such transition as best we can.
I will share a very useful video on the rule differences in the next coming days.
The committee also agreed that for the first half of the season it is perfectly acceptable to ask your opponents what the ruling is in any given situation. This does not mean coaching is permitted - it means a player can ask what the impact of the rule is at that given time (They cannot ask which shot they should play).
I will be happy to take calls about the rules to help as much as I can - if there are players/captains in the league already comfortable with the rules and wouldn't mind taking calls on the rules then please contact me so I can share your details.
We aim to also get printed versions of the rules to each venue.
League Set up
Confirmed as 2 divisions
Masters
The method for calculating the order of participants was discussed and a method agreed. The list of qualifiers will be announced shortly alongside details of the event.
Alison Graham
It was bought to my attention that the winners and runners-up of the event would usually receive a trophy each to keep. Unfortunately, I wasn't aware and as such the trophies weren't ordered.
My sincere apologies to both Molly and Debbie, I will order the trophies for you both as soon as possible.
Singles KO
The League will run a singles KO alongside the league fixtures this season. There will be a competition for each division. The committee agreed upon a small cost of £1 per person for entry into the event. Usual league rules apply (All entries must be part of the league to participate).
All entries and monies should be with the league secretary by 27th May (it would be easier if each captain could collate their team's entries and money).
Singles KO matches will be played on Monday evenings as part of the League season.
Cross Pairs event
The committee also discussed the need for pairs/doubles event. Unfortunately the League calendar makes it difficult to schedule such an event on Monday evenings but did agree that the following event will take place:
£5 entry per pair, all money in will be paid out to the winners and runners-up. There will be no trophy for this event.
There will be no set date for the fixtures, but a deadline as to when the fixture needs to be played by - it will be up to both pairs to arrange a mutually agreeable day/time to play.
The pair drawn our first can chose which venue to play at.
All entries and monies to be with the league secretary by 30th April.
Thanks once again for the continued support towards the league it is very much appreciated.
Good Luck to all teams for Season 76.
Best Regards
Kenny
Congratulations to Molly Mitchell of Camber Castle A on winning and retaining the Alison Graham Trophy on Monday (18th) at the Bailiff's Sergeant.
Molly overcome Debbie Diffey in the final, with the deciding frame being a rather tense affair not helped by the
Eight Ball sitting in the jaws of the middle pocket from quite early in the frame.
The event was well supported with 10 ladies in attendance and played in great spirit.
Well Done once again to Molly.
At The Bailiff's Sergeant on Monday 25th March 2024.
Registration from 7:30pm
Presentation to begin at 8:15pm.
Please note, due to the feedback received their will be a vote on whether to introduce International Rules into the League.
Look forward to seeing you all.
Best Regards
Kenny
